Our Work in India
Worldreader works with Indian communities, families, institutions, and organizations to get children reading so they can reach their potential. Discover our work.
Families in rural Rajasthan don’t have the opportunity to send their children to school. Instead, children – especially girls – are required to assist with household duties. Worldreader has partnered with Barefoot College to bring digital reading programs to rural night schools, empowering children to learn by night as they read thousands of vibrant, colorful, educational stories on mobile devices.
"Worldreader and Barefoot College Tilonia's partnership over the last 4 years has played a pivotal role in addressing the challenges of illiteracy in remote areas of Rajasthan. This collaboration has empowered more than 2500 underprivileged children, mostly girls, equipping them with basic reading comprehension and digital skills despite the infrastructural challenges in the areas we serve." – Bunker Roy, founder of the Barefoot College Tilonia Social Work and Research Centre.
