This summer can be a turning point

The summer holidays are a great opportunity for children to grow, learn, and explore. But, children in underserved communities do not have equitable access to reading and are at risk of falling behind when school is out.

Give as little or as much as you can – your support will bring children from underserved communities inspiring books and learning activities so that they can overcome learning loss and build healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives.

Readers build a better world

Reading is the foundation of all learning and sets children up for success later in life. Your support will provide children in over 100 countries with free digital resources filled with inspiring books and engaging learning activities – anytime, anywhere. By giving all children a summer of wonder, you can ensure they continue building strong reading habits that will lead to academic success, better health, and employment opportunities

Here’s our plan to support children this summer

Focus on vulnerable children
We’re focusing on low-income communities where books are scarce.

Give access to a rich library
We’re bringing over 400 books to our readers so they can read, learn, and grow.

Provide weekly support
The 12 week summer reading program includes books, activities, and motivational messages.

Get parents involved
We’re giving parents the tools they need to support their children during the summer.

When school is out, reading is in

BookSmart is Worldreader’s interactive, easy-to-use platform to keep children from underserved communities reading all year round.  Discover our ABCD approach:

  • App-based access: Completely free and compatible with low-cost devices. All content can be enjoyed offline.
  • Books: Thousands of culturally-relevant digital books for children aged 3-12.
  • Continuous engagement: Play-based learning activities, weekly books, rewards, and notifications encourage children to read every day.
  • Data: We monitor critical data to measure and drive impact.

Since 2010, we’ve served over 20 million readers in 100+ countries.

Help readers like Saori, Mohammed, and Jayla

Saori from Peru
Saori fell in love with books during the pandemic. She now uses our library to keep reading when she’s not at school.

Mohammed from Egypt
Mohammed loves drawing. After reading a book, he makes a drawing inspired by the story.

Jayla from the US
Jayla’s favourite book is about mosquitoes. It’s helped her understand how malaria is harming children in some parts of the world.
