Join a community of organizations working together to support family reading.
Worldreader is pleased to announce the opening of applications for 2024 grants. With the generous support of Amazon, Worldreader opens its second Let’s Get Children Reading Grant opportunity to support community-based organizations, schools, and other learning institutions in engaging children (3-12) and their families to read a minimum of 25 unique books a year. With Worldreader’s free digital reading application, BookSmart, children and their caregivers have the tools to build their reading skills through high-quality books, activities that reinforce reading skills in fun and interactive ways, and celebrations of their success.
Worldreader and Amazon have an ambitious goal of getting 75,000 children ages 3-12 reading through this grant to improve reading comprehension and social-emotional learning. To reach this goal, we seek creative, collaborative partner organizations with these qualities:
We welcome applications from across the United States, but are placing a high priority on organizations in the following states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Washington DC, Washington State, and West Virginia.
Worldreader will award up to 30 one-year seed grants valued between $3,000 and $5,000. Funding may be used for items such as communication tools, incentives, or program support. We encourage your creative approach.
The application opens on January 1st. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis but are due no later than February 21, 2024. Worldreader will notify selected organizations on or before March 7, 2024.
One-year seed grants valued between $3,500 and $7,500 were awarded to the following 27 organizations. The Let’s Get Children Reading Grant, with the goal of engaging children and their families in reading, is made possible by generous funding from Amazon.
Current grant recipients that received funding earlier in 2023, may apply for additional funding in February 2024 and should not apply for this cycle of funding.
