The Digital Reading Summit is Back!

Today kicks off our 2016 Digital Reading Summit in Africa. Leaders and thinkers who believe in the power of digital reading to improve lives are convening in Accra, Ghana on April 6th and 7th and in Nairobi, Kenya on April 12th and 13th of April.  

We live in an increasingly connected world where digital technology plays a vital role in our lives. In Africa, uptake of technology is already showing positive impact.  As access to mobile and internet technology continues to grow, digital technology will be one of the biggest drivers of development in Africa.

As for digital reading, we’re witnessing its uptake first hand with our number of active readers tripling in 2015 alone. For there to be a real digital revolution, it’s imperative for there to be successful integration and close collaboration among all stakeholders. That’s where the true value of the Digital Reading Summit lies. This year there are over 350 participants ranging from publishers, e-reader project managers, educational professionals, non-profit organizations, and government officials coming together to deepen their knowledge of the digital reading ecosystem and its positive impact on children, families and entire communities.

Participants will also enhance their expertise through professional development workshops while networking with like-minded professionals.  In Accra key speakers include Mrs. Amissah-Arthur: the Second Lady of Ghana, Jane Naana: the Deputy Minister of Education in Ghana, Elliott Agyare: the President of the Ghana Publishing Association and CEO of Smartline Publishing, among others. In Nairobi key speakers include David Waweru: the Chair of KPA and Founder of WordAlive Publishers, Margaret Murage: Director of Field and other Services and Benjamin Piper: Chief Of Party of RTI International.
